Thanks, Chuck! We are very excited too.... it's been a lot of hard work, but I think it will be worth it!

Adding in support for the IFAA/NFAA round structure has been a real challenge; but with Field and 3D support, we hope there will be something here for everyone.

Cheers!

What an excellent comment, Graham! You've obviously given this a lot of thought.

My feeling is that the WA does have a reasonable role here, but not to commission an electronic scoring system; rather, to put out the SPECS for one and let the free market economy get to work. (Which, not coincidentally, is exactly what we are doing with ArcherZUpshot.)

Wireless IS great. I think we have, for the most part, moved beyond a place where we need to worry about wireless being unreliable, at least in general. However, there should always be a backup system. Our thought with ArcherZUpshot is that the archer's data would ideally be streamed to the Cloud but ALSO maintained on the archer's own device -- allowing a default to paper scoring should total power failure become an issue.

The casing becomes a moot point if the device is in the archer's pocket, and NOT on the target.

Cost is a HUGE issue. At ArcherZUpshot, we see this as a problem to be broken down into individual units - specifically the archers themselves. If everyone has their own scoring interface, for which they've paid a nominal price (let's say, for instance, the cost of an average good arrow); that leaves much less cost for the Organizations to manage, a good deal of which can be covered with sponsorships.

It's NOT simple -- I hope I didn't imply that it was, with my trademark snarkiness. It's not simple -- but it IS doable. And believe me, we are well on the way.

Best of all, we DO have competition -- which is a good thing for the free market economy model to work. The guys at RCHERZ have constructed a beautiful tournament management system, but their app implementation leaves a great deal to be desired. Here at ArcherZUpshot, our strengths and weaknesses are precisely reversed. We have a great app, but a LONG way to go (yet) on the "desktop" end of things.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Cheers!

I love the thought. BUT some world body or rather WA should commission an EFFECTIVE electronic scoring system. Wireless is great but will have issues with power. Where is the device stored so its protected if its at the target. A steel case might work but then wireless stops UGH!! its not so simple at the end of the day. Of course COST is the biggest issue.
